Breast cancer: how and where to get tested

Breast cancer - symptoms and how to test

Breast cancer develops when abnormal cells in the breast expand and divide out of control, leading to a lump of tissue known as a tumour. Breast cancer might be indicated by the presence of a lump, a change in breast size, or a change in the appearance of breast skin. Women over 50 make up the vast majority of breast cancer diagnoses. Inherited susceptibility to cancer can come from both parental lines. Testing aims to find breast cancer before it causes symptoms when it is more easily treated.
