Yeast Infection - symptoms and how to test

A vaginal yeast infection is a fungal infection that manifests in vaginal and vulva (vaginal opening) tissues in the form of irritation, discharge, and extreme itching. Up to three-quarters of women may have a vaginal yeast infection, also known as vaginal candidiasis, at some point in their lives. Yeast infections of the vagina can affect women and girls of any age. Infections caused by yeast are more frequent in women with a high estrogen level. A yeast test's purpose is to help determine whether you have a yeast infection.
